Put A Ring On It

Hilary says that she read something, somewhere, at some point, that 75% of the couples going to marriage counseling actually wind up getting divorced. But is this fact or fiction? She and Edward T discuss this statistic and the methodology involved in the study and how the study eventually arrived at this conclusion.

ETM talks about his fury with scientific studies and with studies getting misinterpreted, both by scientists and the media, and Hilary shares her frustration with having her scientific work interpreted (or misinterpreted) by the media.

Edward T then shares his experience with marriage counseling and divorce. As a result, he and Hilary both find out that (once again), they are on opposite sides of the fence. One of 'em believes in marriage for life; one doesn't. Care to place any odds on who is whom?

Serendipity | ETM-Hilary Kemp Show 40

Hilary's back from vacation and the kids discuss how serendipity is a big part of any vacation. Also: another colossal dating failure story from ETM.
Serendipity

Hilary's back from vacation in New York City and has some tales to tell, especially about drinking and dancing (that's unusual), not to mention fried chicken! While listening to her adventures in NYC, Edward T observes that serendipity has a lot to do with a great vacation.

Hilary also visited with an old boyfriend, which leads Edward T to ask the how and why of the end of that relationship. Her answer leads ETM to veer off and discuss another relationship he gave a shot at, which no doubt should have wound up on FailBlog.

Moving In Stereo (Types)

Edward T goes on another one of his "hippies in Seattle" rants and Hilary says he is boxing people in and creating stereotypes. She says he has a narrow interpretation of people and he gives no credit to people being individuals.

ETM says it's about Sociology, about people behaving certain ways in groups, and he doesn't need to get to know people on an individual basis. He believes he can predict how people are going to behave without even meeting them, simply based on where they come from and how the currently live their lives.

Hilary says this is stereotyping people and that he could be missing a lot of things that could make his life better. ETM counters that he already knows what he likes and what he doesn't and there are some people he just doesn't want to know, and there's nothing wrong with that.

Hilary then brings up his dating life and and a statement he made about who he wants to date and who he doesn't. Then the battle really begins.

Take the children off the streets - this one's a donnybrook for sure!
