You asked for it - you got it! Back by popular demand, a fans' extra podcast. Alright, well maybe it's because we talk too long and have to bust it up into two podcasts, but still, we listened and we responded!

In their own inimitable fashion, Hilary and Edward T catch up on their last two weeks, including Hallowe'en. They discuss costumes and the cultural impact of the doll Barbie.

Hilary has been getting to know her new job, and Edward T dropped by Hilary's work for lunch.

This launches them on a conversation about science, science labs, junior high school desires and wondering what they wanted to do with their lives, compared to what they did with their lives, and what they've done/what they are doing to change that.

They also discuss communication and its purpose in our lives, especially when used in a certain context, which drives Edward T crazy and sometimes Hilary too!

This time around, we take a look at Time Magazine's cover story that states that "women are more powerful than ever...and more unhappy." What's up with that? Is this something designed to titillate (no pun intended) so Time can sell some magazines, or is that the fact, Jack?!

Hilary and Edward T take a look at it from their personal experiences. Edward T, as usual, has a few choice thoughts on the matter (and maybe a few chips on his shoulder), and Hilary presents some interesting points that you may not have thought of before.

Due to the expanded nature of last time's presentation, Hilary takes a break on the Science Minute this time around.

And finally, Edward T introduces you to one "weird and wacky" film known as Mulholland Drive on the Media Minute, giving you a quick primer on one of his all-time favorite films, as well as a brilliantly eerie soundtrack.

We continue our discussion from Episode #6 about mood and how (and if) it can be affected by our own actions, and delve deeper into the human psyche and the nature of happiness.

Where does happiness come from? Where do you find it? Can you predict it? Can it be manufactured or is always there? Is happiness an inside job, or does it come from the outside?

And most of all, how do you define it? Find out!!

We start by (once again) discussing Edward T's dating life. And for the first time in years (literally), he has had a successful date! it's been nice knowing everyone, because no doubt the apocalypse is near.

Hilary gives us the gay perspective on dating and how that word -- "dating" -- isn't used in her community.

We also find out that Hilary has a new job -- and that she had to move a long, long way to get to it. Or maybe not... Hilary and Edward T also discuss the nature of confidence.

We then tear into discussing the nature of happiness. What makes you happy?, we want to know. Is it based on results or expectations? Or both - or neither?! What's the nature of it? How do we experience it? Do we answer these questions? Can you answer them for yourselves?

And Hilary donates her Science Minute time to Edward T so that he can present the first-ever Media Minute! He goes into detail on the ground-breaking and culturally-impacting television show "thirtysomething," and reviews the Season One DVD, giving background details on the production and why he finds it so fascinating and unusual, including an interview clip from the creators of the show.

First, can you change your mood with your thoughts and actions? And second, are you a fan of tattoos?

This time, we discuss taking action to change your mood, then we have a fiery debate about tattoos!

We start with chick flicks, lab rats, Hilary's new job and the old TV show, "thirtysomething." We move on to driving in Seattle, jaywalking tickets, Hilary's driving, Edward T's horn-honking and his new job news - which is not as exciting as it sounds.

Edward T then relates another dating debacle. No motorcycle guy this time.

In our own now-classic form, the podcast spins on itself when Edward T notices Hilary's tattoo and an argument breaks out about tattoos and their purpose in our lives. As you can imagine, Hilary is down with tattoos and Edward T, the resident misanthrope, is definitely not. Who wins? Find out.

Finally, in the Science Minute, Hilary introduces us to her favorite part of the brain, the Amygdala (amygdalae), wherein lies four of our favorite friends – desire, fear, pleasure and rage. Let the smack down begin!

Seems like people either love living in Seattle or they don't - doesn't seem to be much in-between. Though we both moved to Seattle around 2004, Hilary and Edward T have two very different takes on our love for Seattle: Hilary loves it and Edward T...well, let's just say he doesn't.

But why? Find out in our most expansive and explosive podcast yet!

Hilary and Edward T start out discussing what they've been doing off of the mic for the last month, including Hilary's vacation, her cool new motorcycle accessory and Edward T's party and his fire-building skills. In addition, Edward T relates yet another dating debacle, which unbelievably, involves another guy with a motorcycle.

We move on to discuss what was it that attracted us to the Puget Sound area in the first place. Hilary also tells us about the things that keep her in Seattle and why she loves it so much, including the weather, the international flavor of the scientific community and the supportiveness of the gay community.

Meanwhile, Edward T taps into the rage and rants about what he dislikes about Seattle, which as you will find out, is apparently everything. He blows his stack about traffic and then delineates from a list of all the social and culture issues that rub him the wrong way, including and especially the 'Seattle Freeze'.

Then, in the Science Minute, Hilary tells us about protein, hemaglobin, Vice-Grips, changing Ph's, oxygen and the Goblet (not a character in "Lord of the Rings"), which helps your life go sooo much smoother than you could ever imagine. Find out why.

This time, we push the limits of technology, with our first-ever Call-OUT show! (Not exactly a call-in show; we're still working on the call-in feature, stay tuned). So we called out to our guests instead!


And what guests we had - two of our biggest boosters - Liz Knapp and J.P. Giuliotti!


First, joining us live from San Diego, CA, we talk to Liz Knapp. She's a Philly native and an old friend of Edward T's from the Denver movie theatre scene.

We discuss: Liz's first-ever gambling venture, Ed's plethora of imaginary friends, and whether or not Ed hates just a few people or simply everyone. Also, Ed wants to know if saying something is 'gay' is an insult to a gay person, Hilary has some choice words she uses with her wife (and us!) and we somehow arrive at being big fans of Catholicism.


Then we make a local downtown Seattle call to the ever-energetic J.P. Giuliotti, the man from Beantown: Boston, Mass! (No way you can tell that by his accent). At first, we catch J.P. rather heated & perturbed (for good reason - he waited 3 hours for our call), but he chills out to catch us up on his ideas about David DeAngelo's "Double Your Dating" series, from Episode #1, and his upbringing as a (once again) a Catholic (not a bad thing, it turns out).


There is bad news, though: No Science Minute from Hilary this time. Rats! (It could have something to do with me talking so much - ed). But she'll have another one for you next time, we promise!
